Welcome

Sandy Thornton was a very young girl when her maternal Grandmother noticed her Granddaughter's interest in seamstress skills and began teaching Sandy how to crochet, knit, and — eventually — create beautiful, and unique, draperies. For more than twenty five years now, Sandy has been creating stunning, soft window treatments through her company, "Thornton Custom Drapery Workshop." And she was delighted when daughter, Sarah Thornton, decided to become part of "The family legacy" by apprenticing under her Mother, then becoming a full-fledged, third-generation, member of The Thornton Family team. Sandy and Sarah specialize in creating custom draperies, Romans, valances of all kinds, soft shades, bedding, and cushions - in addition to specialized items such as outdoor draperies, boating needs, and even custom cockpit covers for antique airplanes! The Thornton Team's services are not only available to Professional Decorators & Interior Designers; they can also be commissioned directly by individual commercial and residential clients. As their business began to grow, and their need for more room increased, Sandy's began looking for a space which would allow her to live, and work under the same roof (as she has the habit of discovering creative solutions to her works in the wee hours of the night). The answer came in the form of a recently-closed church in the tiny, Southgate hamlet of Cedarville. Her husband, Jim, helped Sandy acquire the late 1900's property then — in the extraordinary time of only 4 months — converted the old Church into a combination drapery-workshop and gorgeous, two-storey home. The converted building has become the talk of the Township, and the couple's story was recently featured on the cover of Southgate's local newspaper. So regardless of what you're looking for in the way of unique, custom drapery needs, please feel free to contact the talented Thorntons at 519.323.0151, and by E at crftyldy2000@yahoo.ca Or — as it states in the newspaper article about this delightful family, "...anyone interested in visiting (The Thorntons) and seeing their renovation (and Drapery) work..." can take a drive to the hamlet of Cedarville and, "Just knock on the door." We invite you to explore the samples featured on this web site, then contact the Thornton's for design suggestions and quotes re your specific needs. Our sincere thanks for taking the time to read this. We look forward to serving you in the near future.
